Gitit Choir

The Gitit Choir was founded in 1981 by Shimon Ben-Ami, who was its conductor for eight years. In the following years Gitit sang under other conductors, and since 2007 Zoli Frank serves as Gitit's musical director and conductor.

Gitit's repertoire includes works from the Renaissance and Baroque periods, classical and romantic vocal music, modern and Israeli pieces, as well as local and world folk songs. Zoli Frank has also arranged a number of choral pieces which have been successfully performed by Gitit. Gitit has sung in numerous concerts and festivals, both locally and internationally. The choir has performed at `the Haifa Holiday of Holidays, Nazareth Sacra and Abu Gosh Festivals.

In 2009 the choir participated in the Europa Cantat international choir convention in Utrecht, Holland.

As part of Gitit's fundamental guiding principles, the choir frequently sings in schools, old-age homes and other community projects in Haifa.
